Shayari #11 : Zubair Rizvi

शायरी : 11 (Couplets) - Zubair Rizvi Zubair Rizvi died on 21st February 2016, with his death Urdu shayari lost his yet another appraiser. My elder brother, my sisters and I all knew his ' Yeh Hai Mera Hindustan, Mere Sapno Ka Jahan Isse Pyaar Mujhko' by heart because every time there was a school function where we have to sing patriotic songs our father taught us this ghazal at different times to all of us. We all learned it without knowing that it was written by Zubair Rizvi. Unknowingly I am attached to his works from my childhood and now when I have read his other works I started understanding and loving his works more. He will remain the first person whose ghazal I remembered by heart from my childhood. Rest In Peace! Sir your work will never let us forget you. Here I am presenting some of his shers (couplets) translated by me as a tribute to him. अपनी पहचान के सब रंग मिटा दो न कहीं, ख़ुद को इतना ग़म-ऐ-जानाँ से शनासा न करो।  Apni Pehchaan Ke Sab Rang Mita Do Na Kahin,

Benaam Sa Ye Dard Thahar Kyun Nahin Jaata

बेनाम सा ये दर्द ठहर क्यों नहीं जाता ? - Benaam Sa Ye Dard Theher Kyun Nahin Jaata (Why Doesn't This Unnamed Pain Stay) - Nida Fazli 'चले गए हो दूर बहुत दूर यहाँ से, इन खुशबुओं से तेरी मौजूदगी महसूस करेंगे' - सिफ़र  Chale Gaye Ho Door Bahut Door Yahan Se,  In Khushbuon Se Teri Maujudgi Mehsoos Karenge. - Cifar Nida Fazli breathed his last on 8th February 2016. This post which is translation of his ghazal ' Benaam Se Ye Dard Theher Kyun Nahin Jata ' is a tribute to him. He was among the last of Urdu ghazal masters one who used the colloquial language in his works to convey the messages easily understandable even to common man. His sudden death with cardiac arrest is a great loss of Urdu literature and Bollywood song writing. He used to see the world with an humanitarian eye a trait which was visible in his works. In Hindi film industry , the song written by him like Hosh Walon Ko Khabar Kya, Aa Bhi Jaa, Ae Subah Aa Bhi Jaa, etc were both meaningful and melodious.

Tunhe Saha Jo Dard - A Tribute to Nirbhaya

Tune Saha Jo Dard - A Tribute to Nirbhaya 16 December 2012 the date which witnessed the heinous crime of a gang rape of 23 year old paramedical student Jyoti Singh by five animal like men in Delhi. She as Nirbhaya (fearless) united the country in fight against sexual crimes which resulted in strengthening of rape laws but sadly her rapists even after fast track court hearing are waiting for judgement. Nothing has changed in last three years except the change in governments. Rapes are still rampant in the country and no government looked serious to deal with the issue. I wrote below poem on 29th December 2012 after her death as a tribute to her, I shared it here on this blog previously on 1st Jan. 2013. Today I feel to share it again because as a society we have failed her not because her rapists are not hanged but for the attitude of society towards the rape crimes have not changed. I added the last stanza today while re-writing this poem here. तूने सहा जो दर्द वो इन्तेहाँ ही थी, तड़
